Open Letter to WomansDay Editor: We at Norwegian Cruise Line were very disappointed to read your online article entitled, “9 Things travel Agents Won’t Tell You.” Through our corporate philosophy called Partners First, we wholeheartedly support travel agents and consider them the lifeblood of our industry. Travel agents are the distribution system through which the vast majority of cruises... are booked. We invest significantly in training, education, marketing, online tools and more to ensure our travel partners have the absolute most up to date information on our cruises. In turn, our travel partners invest their time and money in taking advantage of all of these opportunities offered by us and other suppliers to ensure they have the best information possible and can relay that information to their clients. The survival of travel agents depends on them providing value to their customers and exceeding their expectations. They don’t do that by following the nine things you highlight in your article. They do that by being highly educated and professional, by giving sound advice and acting with integrity, by matching the right customer to the right vacation opportunity and exceeding the customer’s expectations in every way. I believe you did your readers a disservice with this article, that did not accurately depict the true nature of travel agents and the value they bring to countless customers looking for counsel and advice regarding their next vacation.
