Thank you, Citizens of Tawas for taking time from your demanding schedules to support justice and make history! We beat down the doors of City Hall this morning! It was a packed house with every seat filled and the lobby packed! Jenny Jimenez of the Iosco News Herald, and also WBKB TV11 were in attendance, cameras ashootin! They will put out a nice piece tonight at 6 PM on channel 11. Dave Schantz, the lone ranger of the council, was the only voice for the people behind that desk. Daves motions to stall any resignation from Kane Kelly until after public comments were voiced, and also to disqualify the resignation letter, died, as NO ONE else on the council had the kahunas to do the right thing. It was shameful!! Ken Cook moves into the position of next mayor, and Dave Dickman, was nominated as new mayor pro-tem. (vice-mayor). Go figure. Then, Ken Miles provided his interpretation of Tawas City Council involvement in Tawas City ordinance violations. He said, it was not the role of the council to get involved. Really, Ken, then why do ordinance violation warning letters, like the one we received, state that one suggested remedial action would be to contact the Tawas City Hall to request a hearing with the City Council...? Next came the public comments. Rounds of applause followed each one. Kanes attorney went first. His cool expertise blew it out of the ballpark. He applauded them for a perfectly rehearsed show, as they acted textbook guilty! I went next, and I will post my comment below. It was a bit of a doozy. I was cut off, at the 3 minute mark, so Phil Hurst stood to read my last 10 second closing. The next comment came from a council alumni, who years ago, voted Dave Dickman on the council. He voiced that he is ashamed of how Dickman has behaved, is sorry that he ever voted him in and suggested that Dickman be the one to step down. Then Kanes Father, an honored military coronel praised his son for Kanes many achievements, and shamed the City for such behavior. He stated that he was embarrassed that his years of service to America have resulted in getting to watch our small town fall into the snares of corrupt politics. There were other comments voicing outrage towards the City, but MY full time job, my son Miles, wanted to make his voice heard also, so we escaped out the back! ;D All in all, I think justice will prevail, as long as the people of Tawas City will stand together against these bullies!
