PLEASE VOTE NO ON AMENDMENT ONE....here are just some of the reasons why..... “AMENDMENT 1 – WHAT EVERY VOTER NEEDS TO KNOW! What Every Voter Needs to Know About Amendment One As Election Day approaches, there are three main reasons why Amendment One is bad for Florida. One: It is bad for Florida’s tax payers. As private property is purchased for conservation and taken off tax rolls, local tax revenues (used for schools, roads, services, etc.) will shrink. The remaining private properties will need to make up that difference via a tax increase. Two: It is bad for Florida’s governance. Budgeting through the Florida’s Constitution is bad public policy. Mandated spending will restrict the ability of the Florida Legislature to address all of Florida’s needs, especially should a destructive weather related or financial crisis occur. Three: It is bad for Florida’s economy. It targets working farms and ranches for acquisition thus lowering Florida’s agricultural productivity. Less farms and ranches means less jobs. Moreover, the added lands purchased will require more state spending to maintain these lands. Government will grow because more government workers will need to be hired (with their salaries and pensions) to maintain addition land. Amendment One is bad for tax payers, bad for governance, bad for the economy, and bad for Florida.
