Thank you Kris Nielsen! More evidence that the STEM surge is OVER! Science News (October 19) cites statistics showing that US spending on science has decreased sharply in inflation-adjusted dollars. Also 67% of scientists report receiving less grant money now that in 2010. What STEM shortage? The shortage seems to be grant writers to chase the disappearing money: 80% of scientists say that are spending more time writing grant proposals now than they did in 2010. (Science News, October 19, 2013, page 5).
