Thank you Nancy Boxler for your kind words and response. My Tutu, Auntie Pua Nani and mother, Keala were part of the Hawaiian ambassadors sent out to bring the Hawaiian culture to the USA before statehood. My mother and Auntie were 4 and 6 year old dance performers. Tutu was the lead dancer and headed the troupe of entertainers and performers. I was brought up with dancing and singing all the time in our household. Auntie Pua Nani was the president of the Hui O Hawaii in San Diego. My father was part Choctaw Indian. I am hopa haole. I am graduating from Institute of American Indian Arts IAIA which is a tribal college next fall. With a BFA in Cinematography Art and Design. I am an IATSE-480 Film Maker. I will then go to the University of Hawaii at Manoa to get my Masters Degree in Performing Arts. With the influence of my family, I started as a performers and actor, and got into film. I am a 5th generation performer. Going to University of Hawaii of Manoa and getting a degree in Performing Arts will be full circle for me. I love my Choctaw Ancestry and my Hawaiian Ancestry. I honor their culture and love what they gave me. I learn about Colonization and Indigenous people. I do not care to go there and list the wrongs that have been done to indigenous people here today. We all know and have our stories. I am proud to be Choctaw, Hawaiian and American. Do not hate the people, I am full of love for what the ancestors gave us. Our cultures and love have survived. My family was in Pearl City on Dec. 7, 1941. They watched the bombing and strafing of the streets in Pearl City by the Japanese Zeros. My Grandfather George Seeke died that day in Pearl Harbor. He wa sin the Navy. I know the stories that are not reflected in the history books. But we can dwell on hatred and become sick. I salute all the ancestors and my ancestors, and relations. We must seek and find peace on this Earth or as John Kennedy said, Mankind must put an end to war--or war will put an end to mankind.. God Bless you and yours Nancy Boxler be good always, and seek good in people and all things… always. BTW I am 66 years old Dec. 9, 2014. It is never to old to get a higher education and learn something new. On this day, I salute all the brave men and women who served, and gave their lives for what they believed in. All of them. I have worked for Hatachi Sieki USA and Yamazen USA two Japanese or Nipponji companies. I have celebrated life with them and great successes. There is no limit to what we can do if we all work together. I have dear friends who are Nipponji. We all lost much and learned from that day. I honor their memory and pray that we will find a lasting peace in our lifetime. Namaste, Ajo, Aloha and... Mele Kalikimaka. We are all related. https://youtube/watch?v=fRb9CxUoudA&google_comment_id=z12bu3pziuewexdsy22xdntj5kfng33u4
