Thank you all for the support and kind and encouraging words! In response to some of the comments: I believe we all want the same thing - to give these animals the best life possible. I know we cant all agree what that looks like. That being said, Ranger is not and has not been suffering. He hasnt given us any indication that hes in pain. And I will say, wed all do well to remember that there is obviously more to any post than just what you read on FB! We have been in contact with his Dr. to find out about medication options. It can be as simple as switching one or two medicines that can make a difference. And weve been doing just this for the past few weeks. Trial and error, if you will. His medications run between $150-300 a month. Paid for by his adopter (my mom). Im sure the idea of spending this much seems crazy (to some), however, my mom is a recent widow and Ranger has filled a void in her life that has far outweighed the cost. All of that being said, we have decided to let Ranger cross the Rainbow bridge. His hydrocephalus is not getting better (as we had expected) but is in fact progressing much quicker than we had anticipated. We hoped we would have at least a couple of years with him. Please no negative comments or disagreeing opinions. We came to this decision after much prayer, consideration, and talks with his Dr. He has had almost 6 months of constant love and care. Its time for him to head to a place where hell be free to be the dog God created him to be. For those who donated to his healthcare, please know his life mattered! Sometimes a dog is more than just a dog. Ranger was special. He touched the hearts of many and changed the lives of a few. Your donation made a difference!!! Apollo has been a supportive rock through this process and I encourage you to continue to support them as Ranger is just one of the many, many dogs they rescue and care for. Feel free to donate in his honor. Hell be crossing the bridge at home, in comfort, tomorrow morning. Please remember us in your prayers. This is NEVER easy. Its always to soon to say see you later.
