Thank you for the overwhelming support here and via emails etc. I really didnt expect such a big response but I can assure you, it is greatly appreciated! I got home late last night from Brisbane where I saw the cancer specialist. In a nutshell, I was told that Desmoplastic Melanoma is quite rare (around 5% of cases are of this type) but there are some positives and some negatives. An inspection by the specialist of my lymph nodes (under my arms and groin) didnt show any obvious signs of swelling or lumps. This type of melanoma rarely spreads to the lymph nodes however in some cases it can, but the downside is it is more likely to bypass them and go straight into the blood system… On the pathology report so far there is nothing to suggest that this cancer has spread anywhere, however I have to go back into surgery early next month where a 2cm margin around the site will be taken out as a precautionary and obviously tested to confirm either way. I can also have a biopsy taken from my lymph node in my groin but I was told that this can cause issues with liquid pooling and that the specialist does not feel that this is necessary… So it looks like after the next operation I will simply have to get regular checkups down in Brisbane and be monitored over the next 5 years. If there is no reoccurrence in that time, its all good, but only time will tell… I still feel a little anxious about it all but honestly I have been talking nonstop guns with close friends over the last few days and planning even more reviews, so I am looking positively into the future!! Ill start the Ruger Gunsite review uploading tonight, so it should be done by Friday night for you all to watch… Ill also be reviewing the new Lightforce enforcer series of spot lights soon and a heap of other cool gear! If I can finish this post on this note, if you have something that doesnt look right on your skin, please go and get it looked at. My melanoma was disregarded as a benign lump by skin cancer specialists before and if it wasnt for me wanting it gone, I would have still had it and ultimately it would have killed me… Please dont be afraid to get a checkup as it might just save your life…!
