Thank you lovely people for all the beautiful wishes and thoughts! My birthday present to my self: A wonderful journey to the South of Ecuador. After feeling stuck to due many „made up reasons“- i.e. Not having enough, not being able to move due to the size of backpack, being waiting for life to be happening, I decided it is enough of waiting and time to start doing again. I felt very relieved and happy when realised that even though I carry a lot of things with me, I was able to fit everything on my wonderful bicycle and my back ;). So leaving all out of the sudden felt possible, and this gave me a lot of energy. Whereabouts to go? I felt a calling to head down south, so I started my way down south. After having heard all of the sorties: i.e. Hitchhiking in Columbia is dangerous, you are a blond women, you should be careful...I decided it is enough too have been fed with the fears of other persons. I decided it is time to go on a journey of trust and faith down south, well aware that listening to my intuition is very important on this journey. Therefore I started hitchhiking, hitchhiking to Barranquila, wonderful ladies that took me, beautiful conversations. On the way down to the boarder of Colombia/Ecuador I was blessed with meeting all kind of interesting people, realised that people like giving, people like helping. Of course there was a time of waiting, too. People gave to me more than I asked for- I asked for a lift down south, but gained wisdome, people gave food to me, one even gave money to me, even though I told him I had enough, but he insisted. He wanted to support me. People gave water to me, took me in their homes, offered me accomodation and a shower and help with whatever I needed. So, despite what everybody told me before: Colombia gave me only beautiful experiences, helpful, kind, loving and caring people. Having crossed the boarder to Ecuador- this time really on my bike :)- I wanted to arrive where I felt I needed to go to. So I took the bus for the crossing Ecuador and arrived down south where I was welcomed warmly by my friend! So here I am. Thankful for all of this beautiful experiences, blessings and gifts of life.
