Thank you to Craig Schneider, Curtis Compton and Ryon Horne for producing “The Song Plays On” which appeared in yesterdays Atlanta Journal Constitution and online. What an amazing piece of work. Watching these folks work over the last few weeks was fascinating and I marvel at their skill and dedication. It was my heartfelt hope that the community of musicians and friends who have supported me be honored in this piece. Craig and company certainly hit the mark on that one. If any inspiration is to be had from my story it is because this wonderful group of creatives and my family have been there for me. I would list them all here, but I won’t as there is some likelihood I would forget someone--I won’t take that chance. But I will say, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE....and from Lex and me....we love you and treasure your friendship. I didnt choose Parkinsons disease and I can’t evict it from my body, but I give it as little drawer space in the dresser, as little shelf space in the bookcase and as little rack space in the closet as possible while doing my best to ignore the mess it makes. And I try never to forget how incredibly lucky I am. There are so many conditions worse than Parkinson’s and hey, I can still play some of the time, and some of the time I can still write my songs (thanks to Dr. Factor at Emory and a few pharmaceutical miracles of modern medicine). I am, like each one of us who walk the earth, one of a kind. Yet in spite of our uniqueness, it is deeply reassuring to remember that there are people everywhere who can pull together and reach out to others in need. I try to wear my gratitude on my sleeve, I try to remember the lessons of yesterday, keep one eye on what’s in front of me and another on a better tomorrow. I continually try to move forward with the love of family and friends. A Video Clip from our concert at the Hungry Ear, November 1st. It speaks for itself as do TOWA TEInna Stone, William Bess, JC Goolsby and Billy Gewin who make this song come to life. . youtu.be/ezuvEKH726I
