Thank you to all the women who got out and stayed busy urging folk - TopicsExpress

Thank you to all the women who got out and stayed busy urging folk to vote! You know who you are, too. I am very glad to see that Ms. Deborah Tyus, Mr. Tommy Sanders, Ms. Kaye Jordan and Mr. Lawrence Xavier Andrews won their races. I also am glad to see some change in the L.C. Courthouse, too. It just may be we can work to pass our audits these next four years (???)! I hope the vote for Register of Deeds is accurate. Moreover, congratulations to all the candidates who ran their races. If you were victorius, God speed to you! So much remains to be done. I also want to thank the outgoing Lauderdale County Mayor for having accomplished so much these past 8 years. I noticed that you cared for your fellow citizens, Mayor Schuh. During your tenure, much has been done for Ripley, Halls, Henning (Thanks former Mayor Bursey for offering to serve your country again in elected office ~ some of us know that you did a good job as mayor of Henning, given what you inherited, no matter the official whisper campaign targeting you) & Gates. Mayor Schuhs legacy will be that when he worked alongside Ripley Mayor Jon Pavletic, and State Representative Craig Fitzhugh, Ripley and all of Lauderdale County indeed accomplished things that are beneficial for the collective future. To the newly elected, and re-elected, please learn to acknowledge and utilize all our other local leaders. MANY have already played significant roles in moving our county FORWARD. One example is my late employer and former pastor Dr. Cyronose D. Spicer, Sr., whose early leadership led to the acquisition of the buildings that the city and county can now point to as our newest CROWN Jewel destinations: the University of Tennessee-Martin, Ripley Center; and the fitness center. Quaprotek, USA, didnt just happen! And to long-term leaders, quit running people with expertise away from using their talents to help. Many, many more people who may not win elections have tremendous talents than the five (5) black leaders you keep appointing to the commissions and boards you appoint. MOVE SOME OLD GUARD FOLK OUT! They have demonstrated a lack of knowledge and willingness to take our united citizens to the next level. I am serious! Elected officials BEGIN NOW TO ENGAGE with more than your immediate friends and supporters. Seek council from those in our county who have vast expertise. Call for a Town Hall Meeting, Mayor-elect Gaines. In fact, if you wish, The West Tennessee Business & Community Leaders Network would be thrilled to organize a REAL COUNTY-WIDE TOWN HALL meeting. Boy is it ever needed. Mr. Maurice Gaines, please choose to be the greatest county mayor in Tennessee. It wont be easy, but you can do it. All the best. RCM-W
