Thankful For the past few years I have found it increasingly difficult to find joy in the holiday season. After the passing of my grandparents and the slight rift in my familial relationships, I have spent the last couple years suffering through the holidays, Thanksgiving especially. However, this year is different. Perhaps it is my age or perhaps my marriage, but this year I find myself thankful again. Im thankful for husband who always stands by me, not over me. Im thankful for my friends who always care or at least pretend to. Im thankful for my family even when we dont agree. Im thankful for my dog, Luke, who is begging for dinner as I write this. Lastly, Im thankful for just being alive. There have been many times in my life when I have wished otherwise, but I am truly thankful to be here. My only hope for my life is that I lived it well. As yet, I think Im doing fairly well. Im usually not a sunshine and roses kind of person, but I want to say to all the gloomy gus out there; look around you and count the good things in your life and not the bad. In that moment when you finish counting you will feel pure thankfulness.
