Thanks Meredith for the #alsicebucketchallenge nomination. As I got it while I was in bed last night, and worked 12 hours today, you will have to be content with donations. But, for anyone who cares, I have a story...(and, maybe Ill get Loki to dump ice on my head tomorrow) I am committing $100.00 to causes...But not just ALS. Heres how Im breaking it down. THE CAUSE: I didnt know much about ALS before this challenge, but I do know that losing the ability to move half of your face is devastating enough, and I can still lead a full and happy life. I cannot comprehend losing the ability to move your whole body. I hope this helps. Donation: 25.00$ THE WORLD: So, as you may know, Im working for a non-profit right now that that I love. I think Plan Canada does amazing work and Im so proud to be a part of them. So please, if youre interested in helping overseas, check them out, and their Because I am a Girl Canada project. Total: 32.50$ HOMEBASE: Not everything that shines is silver and gold, and we need to remember that not everyone suffering is sick. Im collecting a bag of mine and Lokis warm clothes and toys to take to Romero House, in Saint John. Total: Free THE CURE: There are so many different diseases, sicknesses, and surgeries that happen everyday...one thing they have in common? They often need blood. So, date booked (In Jan, since I just got a tattoo) with Canadian Blood Services to give blood (And hopefully become an organ donor, but thats not set in stone yet). Total: Free THE KIDS: If youve never been to the IWK in Halifax, NS, I pray you never have to. For those of you who have been, you know what an amazing hospital it is. The staff, atmosphere, surroundings, and work they do is outstanding, and I will be forever grateful for the gift of my healthy, happy son. Total: $25.00 THE FUTURE: I havent decided on this one yet, but if anyone has an awesome outdoor-related project that needs funding, I have 17.50$ left for the forests. I wont nominate anyone, but I do encourage everyone to find a cause they support. It doesnt have to be monetary, but realize the absolute wealth we have in Canada...in food, in wilderness, in water, in support, in healthcare...and find out what you can do. als.ca/en/donate saintjohn.cioc.ca/record/HDC0283 blood.ca/eligibility https://iwkfoundation.org/sslpage.aspx?pid=298
