Thanks Spongers Larry! My kind of nomination. My defining 10 lps - not necessarily my faves but instrumental triggers from your life thus far. 10. Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire: Helped my ears bridge the gap between rock and jazz and allowed me to appreciate (and spend money on) a whole new range of music. https://youtube/watch?v=gv_bkS5VVaA 9. Led Zeppelin 2 - The best Zep album, no arguments, no dissent. The home of the riff. https://youtube/watch?v=BwZ4Px57cWA 8. Gilgamesh - Arriving Twice. My first foray into the pure Canterbury sound (Gong excepted). More blistering guitar work than Hatfield allowed me to then appreciated Rotters Club et al eventually. https://youtube/watch?v=WJE4lPvXbfQ 7. Black Sabbath - Paranoid. What allowed me to get the single fret up-or-down doom style. https://youtube/watch?v=9jeKstEHrKw 6. Man - Maximum Darkness. Picked up from Woking library when young due to the cool guitar on the cover. Lifelong love of the band since. https://youtube/watch?v=Hj4r-uxHYXg 5. Jimi Hendrix - The Jimi Hendrix Concerts. First full Hendrix album. Disliked Purple Haze on first few listens, then got past the devils interval at the start and that was it. Incredible, incredible. https://youtube/watch?v=DCuoVzhldx8 4. Lone Star - Lone Star. Amazing under ground band. Used to play this from the cassette player on my bicycle when 9. https://youtube/watch?v=XlWzE5hUHB8&index=2&list=PL7F929F127678A910 3. Magma - Kohntarkosz. Evil, evil sounding album. Great because I only discovered them a few years ago and it proved there was still so much to be gained from the 70s archive... https://youtube/watch?v=SWktC9PiTdo 2. Gong - Angels Egg. After initially poo-poohing them, I eventually got them and this culminated in a pilgrimage to see them in Amsterdam and the most mind-blowing concert of all time (watch the link to blow away any preconceptions any non-prog fans may have about the genre ;) ). https://youtube/watch?v=iiy5K81qvbg 1. Van der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts. The ultimate album ever.So much meaning and depth, could run an entire civilisation based upon a shared understanding of its message and principles. If that doesnt sound too pretentious. Soundtrack of my Oxford years. https://youtube/watch?v=asPDvjUYFy4 Every one of these albums has been a spiritual experience for me, one way or another. So many more of course! I nominate everyone! But to call out some specifics: Stephen Holt, Humus Band Mx, Simon Watkins, Dave Millner , Gareth Williams, Mark Childs, Simon Doherty, Viktoria Matthews, Luke Hartley, Mark Williams, Mike McLean, George Jones, Joe Hoare
