Thanks Stephanie for the share With the arrival of Eric Duncan in Dallas, TX the level of fear that has taken the airwaves has risen to unprecedented heights. Admittedly sometimes it’s been harder than others to not give in even a little bit to the fear mongering. A disclaimer note. QPolitical is based in Dallas, TX, so we’ve had an extreme front row seat to the fear propaganda the rest of the country is only getting in short spurts. We are still waiting to see something actually to worry about. Ebola is scary because there is seemingly no cure, and it’s horribly debilitating. We’ve yet to receive an explanation why Eric Duncan’s girlfriend and her family who had direct contact with him are yet to develop signs of the disease. There’s little doubt that the two nurses who have been diagnosed with the disease will make a full recovery. Despite what the CDC says, there are a handful of vaccines in existence for Ebola and new experimental treatments. When we deal with the government there is typically two camps our sentiments toward them fall into. Either they are all powerful all knowing evil and controlling, or they are just inept and fumbling about in the dark barely holding it together. I suspect the truth is somewhere in between, and should be assessed on a case by case basis. Consider this, every epidemic that was supposed to sweep across America in the last decade – didn’t do that. H1N1, Swine Flu, Bird Flu, SARS; all of these were built up and propagandized to new extremes and each one fizzled out. So why would Ebola be any different? The only thing that may come of this is soon an Ebola vaccine will be presented and could be mandatory. But the main reason for the Ebola hype unfortunately is mid term elections. Like many campaigns it’s designed to draw more votes for the Democratic party. Attack ads are making the false points that Republican budget cuts are the reason that Ebola has found its way to America’s shores. We’ve been sitting around wondering where is the voice of reason going to come from in this storm? Who was going to stand up and say the sky is not falling. It appears that person is Shepard Smith, from Fox News.
