Thanks for adding me to your group. I have loved wagons since I was little. This one, in particular, was very special to me. Heres a front end pic of my 68 Pontiac Tempest Safari. This is the same car that Jeffrey Shallcross shared. I just finished with a 4yr. full restoration on it, and since I live in Iowa, and its winter, not too many opportunities for good picture taking. I will take better ones this spring. The wagon was a 4-time AHRA and IHRA national record holder in Stock/Super Stock, in the 70s, and was campaigned as Nemesis Two. When I was young, I watched it pull the front wheels in the air everytime it ran. I loved this car. The wagon was last campaigned in 92, then the car disappeared. I started looking for the wagon, around 1995, and finally caught a break in 2010, when I came up with a name and an address. The wagon had been 45 miles from me the whole time. I struck a deal with the owner, and hauled it home. The rest, as they say, is history. As I restored the car, I was lucky enough to become friends with Jerry Stealy, (original builder of the wagon) and Jerry Heiser, (who was Jerry Stealys crewchief, and campaigned the car after Stealy). They both gave me a lot of old pics and memorabilia, that helped me restore the car to where it is today. Thanks again for adding me to your group.
