Thanks for the add! Ive been reading some of the stories the past days - I can only handle a couple at the time, since its so hearth breaking reading all these stories :( I want to share our story. We have 3 kids - the oldest 12 yr boy got almost all the shots, but always a bit delayed. He never reacted very much - a bit of crankiness and a bit of fever - all those normal things. And of course we were to follow the immunizations schedule, because thats what you do (said with a sarcastic voice now...). Our oldest daughter, now 3yrs old, got the first two shots (di-te-ki-po and pneumo) some months delayed (she should have gotten them at 3 mo old). She was a happy, smiling kid, happy to be nursed, slept well and loved being carried in our carrier or cuddled with. She got the shots, and started screaming. Not her normal crying for being tired, hungry or unhappy. She was SCREAMING in a scary high pitc... and she kept screaming for weeks. She didnt want her to touch her or hold her. She didnt want to eat or sleep, we could do anything to comfort her, and of course she got fevers on and of for weeks and weeks - she had never had a fever before the shots. For som stupid reason we half a year later went to get the next vaccines... and this happened again - screaming for more than a month, we couldnt do anything to help her, she was clearly in pain and her body would get all tense whenever we touched her. It was awful!!! Our story has a happy ending unlike many of the other stories here. We have 3 perfectly healthy children despite the oldest and the 2nd child getting some of the shots. But I very much appreciate every one here sharing their heartbreaking stories, because it reassures me, that our final decision is the right one. I cant believe weve actually accepted our childrens reactions to the vaccines as being something normal, because it is clearly NOT normal and NOT something we should do to our children! Thanks for taking your time to read this - hopefully there are not too many mistakes in the language :)
