Thanks for the adding me to this group. Ive always been a fan of Datsuns back in the day. When I eventually saved up to go to ligit auction to get my dream car, the 1600U SSS coupe, I was out bid by a whole R500. Anyway I left with a 79 Cortina which my friends hated me for to this very day, lol. And till now I still have not owned a Datsun regretfully. Now I have my eye on a 510 or 1400 bakkie as project car...cos they just dont make them like they used to. There’s something about Japanese cars from the early ’70s that just hits home in my mind. When you look at the body lines of a car like this Datsun 510 or if you will - 2 door(Coupé) Boxie , there’s little left to be desired visually. The relatively square shape of this small two-door coupe may look dated to some, but in the contemporary world, which by and large is dominated by overdesigned high-tech vehicles, the simple Datsun stands out with its classic framework. Cape Town is no stranger to the appeal of vintage automotive styling. My neighbours owned Datsuns before I could drive legally, so I was introduced to cars of this vintage right from the get go.
