Thanks to Misty Smith Ive been given the number eight. And whats up with being punished for liking and commenting when people say/reveal nice or cool or interesting things? I digress. I dunno whether to go the wow route or ohh thats interesting direction. Eh lets see what comes to mind. 1. My Dad isnt my bio-dad but in every other sense of the word hes MY Dad. And has never let me think for one second he was anything less. 2. He and his brother were both adopted so I even have a non-biological grandmother. Who also - by the way - didnt miss a beat in said role. 3. I dont feel old enough to say this but Ive been in radio for 23 years!!! 4. I actually thought, as a kid, Id have a career in the newspaper/news publishing biz. Wrote, edited produced and delivered a weekly newsletter from age 12-15 (I think) for my hometown, then oversaw the reformation of my high schools newspaper as its editor for two years. At the 92 SIPA conference we had the 2nd-best rated HS paper in the southeast. I also did some writing for the Augusta Chronicle and Athens Banner-Herald, covering high school and college sports, and one year, the Masters. 5. I also really enjoyed playing the trumpet from 5th-12th grade and sat on a few all-district honor bands over those years. I most enjoyed marching/football seasons though. We busted our tails to do imaginative halftime shows. Oddly enough, save for a couple occasions here and there, I havent touched lips to mouthpiece since graduating. 6. In less than the past ten years Ive lost an aunt and uncle and my Mom; and not a day goes by that I dont notice how much I miss em all. My uncle Randy tool the initiative to yeah me how to drive a stick shift. My aunt gave me (some of, anyhow) the sharp and quick wit she had. And Mom gave me so much but what you get most from her through me is my passion for doing whats right for self AND others. 7. People who wonder about the age difference between my better half and I, take note: I started being honest with mySELF first, at age 19, and knew what I was looking for and begged for it to come true. Whoever heard my plea obviously had to start from scratch.
