Thanks to a post on Mat-Su Valley News that gained hundreds of comments, I visited My House earlier this week and took their tour. The My House shirt is a great value. The Roast Beef sandwich with fresh whole-wheat bread made daily and the taco soup were absolutely fantastic.Yuliya did an outstanding job preparing the meal. I was very impressed with the work and mission of My House. They have a relationship-based coaching model that has a focus on moving homeless youth out of their homeless situation. My House assists in providing resources such as documentation, interview skills and interview clothes so homeless youth can get stable housing. Everyone I spoke with was very clear that they do not find remaining homeless as an acceptable outcome. My House is also very mission focused, monitors progress and makes adjustments if they see ways to improve effectiveness. I think if some of the skeptics of My House took the tour I received, you would become enthusiastic supporters and possibly even Board Members down the road. If you look at the donation checks on the wall along with the variety of people volunteering and helping, you will see that My House has strong and broad support from our business community as well as from our faith community.
