Thanks to the viewers who contacted us over the weekend informing us of the Hellgate Osprey cam outage. Unfortunately the Bird Cams team are unable to monitor Facebook and the Bird Cams email account most weekends. We first heard about the outage yesterday afternoon from the Montana Osprey Cams staff. Upon notification we were able to discuss the issue again with Livestream and they got the cam back online. Unfortunately we still dont have a good answer for why the cam has been down so frequently this year. We have been working with both the Osprey Project (who maintains the equipment) and with Livestream (who streams the signal) to try and resolve issues whenever possible. While we strive for 100% uptime, there are a number of reasons why the cams go down, which makes it both hard to diagnose and difficult to stay on top of when streaming 24/7. We use nearly identical setups on our hawks and heron cams here, so theres definitely some aspect particular to the Hellgate situation that seems as though it would be at the root of the issue.
