Thanks to the wonderful folks at Kaplan Museum for hosting an Amede Ardoin reading event last night. It was great to be with Betty Girouard, Connie Hebert, Rayetta, Jeffery Gueno, Jesse and Dana Bourg, Jack Gupto, Attorney Deshotels, and the travelers from Nashville and Maryland who were in the audience. Full house of very enthusiastic, interested listeners who love their culture and what it asks of them as citizens and civic leaders. I look forward to my next trip there when I finish the new book TRELLIS which will include the Amede poems along with sets of poems on Cleoma Breaux Falcon and Iry Lejeune, three musicians whose lives are interestingly intertwined.
