That being said, allow me to explain the method to my wine tasting madness. The Fireside offers small production wines from around the world. Why small production? Because as with anything, small production, boutique wines are better than the mass produced, assembly line wines that are the norm. Most of our wines are from family owned vineyards that put their name on the bottle and their heart and soul in the bottle. During our Saturday wine tastings, you have the opportunity to taste wines that you most likely would never taste outside of the vineyard. And you would probably be charged a fee to taste them. We allow you to drink these wines from our tasting, on premise for the same price you would pay to drink them at home. We furnish the glass, the table, chair, service and atmosphere at no additional charge. In other words, you can enjoy a $50 bottle of wine for about $10 a glass. The same price that you pay for a glass from a $10 bottle of wine at any other restaurant. Why is this not the norm? Basic math. Retail pricing does not include the cost of on premises services. So there is very little profit. And at times, a loss. Why do we do this? Because we love you! We want your wine drinking experience at the Fireside to always be outstanding. Our on premise wine list is the best in the area and probably one of the best in the country value wise. At any time you may purchase other wines off of our shelves at retail price, pay a $15 service charge to enjoy them using our amenities. I taste many, many wines from around the world searching for the best values in every price range. I know, tough job....I do this knowing that my customers dont usually pay the same price to drink at home as they do when they are out. I look for wines that will retail for half the price of a mass produced wine of the same quality. In other words, a $10 bottle of wine from a lesser known producer that is every bit as good, and often better, than a $20 bottle from someone like Mondavi. So no, I am not normal. Never have been, never will be. And I hope that you enjoy the benefits of my abnormities. We offer 10% discounts on mixed case and 5% on 6 bottles.
