The 100billion bond proposal of OGD led administration was not - TopicsExpress

The 100billion bond proposal of OGD led administration was not strictly meant for the cargo airport. All that was needed for the airport to take off was less that 200million naira contribution from Ogun State Government while the private sector will foot the bill for the rest. Someone observed that OGD deliberately planned to build the project in Remo. The answer is NO! The policy was deliberate because the axis it was planned for is one of the few flat ground in Ogun State (Iperu /Ilishan /Ode Remo axis) and due to Its proximity to the 3 major highways that links Nigeria to Lagos. Projects like the Agro cargo airport has the potential to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs. The overall benefit of the project to Ogun State can not be quantified (income tax, landing fee and charges for aircrafts, massive infrastructure development to accommodate the expected expatriates, easy alternative to the overcrowded Lagos airport, jobs for Ogun people and formally putting the State on the global aviation map). It is painful that people perish because of lack of knowledge. Weve said it times without number that any mundane leader can build a road; in fact thats one of the major exclusive duties of the local government chairmen, minister of works, Ogroma and FERMA. Only a smart government will build institutions that are able to affect the lives of Its citizens and add real time value to their life. People should also be reminded that OKLNG project, Seaport and other interestingly viable projects are also covered in the proposed bond and nobody will dare compare such economically viable projects to Ita Eko Or is it Akin Olugbade, Or Panseke to Isabo road. If anyone wants to dare such, I will implore him or her to tell us what are the economy benefit of these roads to Ogun State. Dont let me remind you of the stupid unused pedestrian bridge in Abeokuta. The money that Governor Amosun spent on this stupid bridge alone was the same amount that OGD administration spent to develop the Laderin Workers Estate (254million naira ONLY ). NOW, 254 families and homeowners were created in Ogun State because of OGD. Can Amosun beat that record? I heard he was at the Laderin Estate last week, whatever he does there we know OGD laid all the foundation. So, comparing Gov Amosun with OGD is a tall order. Sola Olukoya.
