The 2015 Art Markets will be held on the last Saturday of the month, April through November, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m at 1251 9th Street in Arcata. This year we will hold fantastic art events at each Art Market. See the schedule of art events. We begin on April 25 with a Dance Festival! April 25 - Dance Festival Celebrating International Day of Dance and Dance Week with dance piece demonstrations, a dance parade, a dance choir flash mob, a dance party at the Arcata Playhouse and the Redwood Raks Choreography Showcase. May 30 - Children’s Art Festival Celebrating children’s art with galleries of children’s art, fun and creative do-it-yourself art booths, street art painting and demonstrations of children’s performance art. June 27 - Rivers and Tides Festival Following in the footsteps of renowned sculptor Andy Goldsworthy, local artists create an amazing gallery of their natural, ephemeral sculptures. There will be a chance for the public to create their own sculptures. July 25 - Midsummer Fairy Festival Celebrate a fun day of fantasy with “The Little People”! Enjoy a Faerie Flash Mob, dress up as your favorite sprite, marvel at a Fairy Garden Gallery, explore an Enchanted Forest and plant native plants to help restore Mother Earth. Aug 29 - Jefferson State Music Festival Enjoy a day of American roots, old-time and acoustic music traditions with amazing performers from around the country. Sept 26 - Humboldt Made Fashion Show Marvel at the beauty and diversity of our local fashion artists on the runway! Oct 31 - Halloween & Day of the Dead Celebrate Halloween and Day of the Dead with a Thriller Flash Mob, pumpkin carving contest, pumpkin sculptures, fun and creative do-it-yourself art booths and a costume contest. Nov 28 - Holiday Art Market Enjoy your holiday shopping by buying beautiful and functional art from our local artists.
