The 4th Human Rights Due Diligence Subcommittee Meeting was held - TopicsExpress

The 4th Human Rights Due Diligence Subcommittee Meeting was held on 16 Jan (Thursday). This time, the committee’s advisor and facilitator for 2013 – Ernst & Young Research Institution’s Mr Ushijima – brought along a person with both brains and beauty. Our instructor this time was Ms Ashleigh Owens, who has formerly spent time with the Global Compact in New York. A researcher in human rights and a lawyer, Ms Owens is currently studying at the United Nations University. She lectured on her topic of expertise, “corporate complicity in human rights violations” in English and very fluent Japanese. The second half involved a dialogue in teams. She carefully answered dozens of questions from the participants, and, in spite of the meeting extending one hour after the designated finishing time, a line formed in front of her after the session! You could well understand that she had provided everyone with the information that they wished to receive. We are so pleased at the increasing depth of subcommittee meetings! Sincere thanks to the subcommittee for all of your hard work.
