The 6th Kolkata Open 2014, with a rating average of 2394 was mesmerisingly strong. It was a dream tournament for any chess player. The top seed was Nigel Short and many more 2600+ players had participated. However it was the tenacious efforts of a 27 year old Philippine GM Oliver Barbosa (2565) that lead him to winning the tournament!
