The 75th precinct needs to get shut down. A female in her mid to upper thirties, two children ages around 12 and 7, with who could possible be a grandmother in her fifties. Asking people for money, I encounter the group sitting in front of a store front on Liberty Avenue and Autumn Avenue. The woman in her thirties stop me and go into a story about being from out of town and being homeless, she was trying to catch the Chinese bus to get home to the South. She shows me her identification, I explained that I wanted to help and couldnt and I know all to well the situation of being homeless with small children in tow. The woman became very angry, the older woman accuse me of refusing to help hungry children. The children looked very health and very well fed, mother and daughter were very well groom, along with children. What happen next will make anyone scratch their heads, the women and twelve year old became argumentative and harassing. I stood my ground not realizing the danger that was about to befall me, I was no match for a group that felt that they had nothing to lose if they were to beat me up and rob me. I was chased for two blocks and threats were made by the women to beat me and take my purse, the woman in her thirties grab a hand full of dirt and rocks and throw it at me as I ran across the intersection of Liberty and Crescent where I saw people standing by a discount store. I immediately called the police who sound like they had better things to do on a Sunday afternoon. Five cars came after 5 minutes and I spent another 5 minutes explaining over and over again what had happen. All the while shaking and near tears, the officers seem to stall and wait as if we had all the time in the world to catch a thief. The Mayor wants a crack down on illegal panhandling on subway performers and illegal swipe of metro cards. I agree. However, why when presented with a dangerous situation did officers on the scene seem to actually want to give time for the female harrassing group to get away? And they also seem more interested in the fact of a dispute rather then an attempted robbery and assault. Danny came with the girls to take me home. Thanks again to the Police of the 75th precinct for being useless and lazy.
