About half a century ago, Kim Novak was one of Hollywood’s most stunning female stars. Her leading role in Vertigo, the Alfred Hitchcock classic, cemented her legacy. She found her way back on stage at the 2014 Oscar awards, but her entrance was more shocking than nostalgic. Many viewers, including us, were stunned at the 81 year olds physician altered face. What she was going for was obvious, the fountain of youth. What she ended up with was, well, simply shocking. Were we alone in this reaction? Apparently not. Social medias verdict was swift and cruel. Donald Trump tweeted that Ms. Novak should fire her cosmetic surgeon. (It was swiftly condemned as a gratuitous assault on an elderly woman).
