The great tennis player,considered one of the greatest players in the history of the worlk,received today the award as adopted son of Madrida city that he has lots in common with. 1.Nadal and Real Madrid: Everyone knows that Rafa is a real fan of RM.A real fan merengue that does not hide it.,just a few days ago he said I want the 10th trophey for RM refering to the match they will have on the finals at the Champion league where they will play against Atletico de Madrid.A journalist asked Rafa a few days ago why he liked RM and Rafa was surprised of the question and he laughed a little and answered I do not think I have to explain to anyone why I am a fan of RM,are you a fan of Barcelona?well,I am a fan of RM.We are in a freee world and everyone chosses the team they prefer I just donpt like fans tat go beyong the match,nothing good comes out of excess. 2.At Santiago Bernabeu Stadium: As a real fan of RM,he enjoys watching his team everytime he has the opportunity to do so,which is not often due to his own schedule.Nevertheless,he has been seen many times at santiago Bernabeu,as we show it in this pic,during a match RM vs Mallorca in 2007,The match,by the way finished with a score of 3-1 RM won. 3.Masters series 2005: 2005 was a great year for Rafa Nadal,he went to the atp professionals,with a spectacular season.He included that year the masters series Madrid that was played at the Madrid Arena.Nadal expereienced there one of the greatest victories he has had during his career when he won vs Ljubric in an epic match,where he came form losing 2 sets and ended up winning the match.He said that was the most important moment for me in Madrid,without doubts. 4.Golden medal in Madrid: City Hall of Madrid gave by unanimity of all politician parties,the Gold medal to Rafa Nadal.For personal reasons-his very busy schedule-he couldn´t get it as it is traditional the day of San Isidro;he did it in October of that year that was held in Palacio de Congresos that happened at the same time of the Masters Series Madrid ,now called Mutua Madrid Open.Nadal thanked everyone for their support to tennis,to sports and to him and he said that everytime he plays in Madrid the crowd there always makes him feel like another person from Madrid.A video was showed on a screen with Manolo Santana, Raúl, Pau Gasol and Fernando Alonsocongratulated him.The city major Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón,praised Rafa for his way of playing,his effort his attitude,sacrifice and passion. 5.Lifted up on shoulders of players at Plaza de las Ventas: In an outstanding scenario, the Davis Cup of 2008 finished their last matches at plaza de toros de Las Ventas.The semis was held in September there between Spain vs the USA.The match was so good that Rafa was carried on shoulders by his partners,according to how it is traditional in that place,after defeating Andy Roddick and getting for Spain the 3rd desicive point. 6.International award for sports: The regional president Esperanza Aguirre started in 2008 the International award for sports of Madrid.She wanted Rafa to be the first one to get it. It is a very important award for me Rafa said,because the people in Madrid are special and I have played here many important matches,that´s why it means a lot to me that they give me an award here. Aguirre said: «¡No one is better than Nadal to get this award for the first time!».
