The AP courses offered at the high school have been a rather hot - TopicsExpress

The AP courses offered at the high school have been a rather hot topic lately. In my opinion, it is fantastic that we offer such a variety of AP courses. This has consistently been one area that showcases Oak Ridges strength. As long as there are students utilizing these classes, it would be a shame for any of them to be cut. On the other hand, there has also been a lot of discussion about what being an average student means, and whether or not they are getting all that they deserve out of our school system. I see no point in linking these two topics together. Each situation is independent of the other. Eliminating AP will do nothing to benefit average students. Regardless, the point remains that not all high school students are going to be AP students. However; graduating, and scoring Proficient on exams should be an attainable goal for all, and that is where we have been falling short. There has been much discussion about why the numbers are as they are. So, I would appreciate it if the BOE candidates would share their perceptions / opinions about possible solutuons concerning the data shown below to make these outcomes better.
