The ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons) says that the number of cosmetic procedures performed in the U.S. has continued to increase for the fourth straight year in a row. Statistics are great for understanding annual growth they dont actually tell us why they grow! Is surgery more acceptable? Do we consider our looks to be more important today? Is surgery more financially viable? Do celebrities put us under more pressure to look good all the time? All very good answers. One of our theories is that people are looking to stay in the workforce longer by allowing their appearance to reflect the age and energy they feel, like this article explains.
