The Absolute Ruler/Only true king - Al-Malik. #4th #99namesofAllah The name Al-Malik is directed to the attribute of mulk and has three meanings: 1) power and ability They do not possess ability. [13:16] 2) Possession and ownership To Him belongs the Ownership of the heavens and earth. [Quran 2:107] 3) Control and authority O my people, sovereignty is yours today, [your being] dominant in the land. But who would protect us from the punishment of Allah if it came to us? [40:29] The word al-malik repeats eleven times in the Quran and five times out of those eleven it refers to the name of Allah (swt), Al-Malik. What Allah thinks is best, will occur koun fa ya koun Be and it is Ibn Qayyim may Allah bless him states that the Malik is the One who rules by His words, commands and the One who gives the ruling. Thus Allah subhanahu wa taala is the only true king who owns everything and has ultimate authority. When ever one is in hardships, one must remind themselves that Allah is our true king and we are in His power and he is able to lift us from our hardships. When there is a will there is a way no matter how impossible the situation is. Evidence from the Sunnah: Al-Bukhari recorded a hadith narrated by Abu Hurayrah radia allahu anhu in which Allah will hold the earth on the Day of Judgment and He will roll up the skies in His right hand and He will say, Ana al Malik (I am the King), ayn al muluk al ardh? (where are the kings of the earth?). No one will speak, because Allah ‘azza wajal is the King on that day. All the kings of earth will be humbled on the Day of Judgment when they’re near Allah subhanahu wa taala.
