The Absurdity of Wrestling with Darkness When you walk into a dark room it would seem absurd to try and get the darkness out in order for there to be light. You would simply switch on the light! This is because darkness is not the opposite of light but rather the absence of light. Light is the substance, and darkness the absence of the substance. Substance can also be seen as Truth or Reality. A lie, therefore is not the opposite of Truth, but rather the absence of Truth or Reality. Darkness speaks of lies as in both substance seems to be absent. We may consider that others are believing a lie in the form of their theology, anthropology, religion and doctrines, but to judge and condemn them for this equates to wrestling with darkness - totally absurd! Lets rather turn on the Light of Truth and set people free. In the incarnation, Jesus who is the creator and the sustainer of all substance becomes a man and is confronted with this darkness in the form of evil, flesh, disease, religion etc. but in the midst of it declares that He is the Light and the Truth of the world - not that He gives it, but He IS it! Therefore, Jesus is the Truth about not only who God is, but also about who you and all humanity are! Now, let your light shine.
