The Adventures Of Ed The Bear at DWP II Hey guys! Ed the Bear here. Our first day at the YDWP program was great. We started off our morning at 6:00 a.m with a little yoga. Now I really like sleeping in, but the yoga really woke me up and made me feel good besides the fact that the bugs were eating me alive, and I dont use bug spray because it gives my soft fur a really weird feel to it, and it takes the flower scent from fur. Anyway, i took a small bear nap after eating breakfast right before going to Biscayne National Park. At the park, we learned about a shipwreck that they call Captain Eds ship, and they believe it to be a single deck cargo vessel that is about 33.528 meters long. Imagine me, a captain! Sounds like something that Im going to have to work on. Next i filled my brain with sweet, sweet honey knowledge. Since i got too hungry for knowledge, we decided to eat our sub sandwiches for lunch. Normally, a bee hive satisfies me, but the sandwich did a good enough job. After lunch, we learned how to do a trilateration of a point of interest. We had to measure from the point of interest to 2 points on the baseline. When i planted my first point of interest, i was so excited that i could just roar my little heart out. We practiced filling out our trilateration survey forms, and we did a drawing of the in-situ remains of the wreck. Everything was very confusing when the instructors first started to explain it, and I had a bit of a head ache. I felt as if I needed to hibernate again. But once we got out on the field and started doing some paws on work, I got a hang of it and I no longer felt the need to hibernate, I was ready to get in the water. After all of our hard work, we went to Dennys for dinner and I ordered my favorite meal. Grilled salmon with lemon and honey drizzled on top, and fresh organic berries on the side. That was sooo good! I ended my first long day by dreaming about scuba diving tomorrow, and all the yummy fish that Im going to see.
