ABOUT MORWA: THE RISING SON Morwa: The Rising Son is a theatre piece written and performed by Botswana actor, Tefo Omphile Paya, directed by Warren Nebe with music by musician and music teacher Volley Nchabeleng. The play is a combination of story-telling, presentational theatre and ritual - presented using a concept called Impulse Theatre. Morwa: The Rising Son tells the story of a young Motswana man and his journey of discovering what it means to be a man. Tefo Paya, created Morwa as a personal exploration of masculine identity, as means of intervention to aid the young men of Bakgatla in Botswana (his homeland) and as a means to question society and how it influences its boys to become men. Presenting Morwa: The Rising Son from Botswana at the Voorkamerfest 2014 has been made possible through funding from the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF).
