The African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW), which is a Specialized Committee for Water and Sanitation in the African Union, holds the fifth African Water Week. It is a high-level political dialogue and participants include over 1,000 representatives from governments, regional institutions, international partners, the private sector, the scientific community, civil society and the media from all over the world, in particular Africa. The dialogue is intended to review obstacles and achievements in current water policies, and pin-point strategies to attain the 2015 United Nations Millennium Development Goals and the goals provided in the 2025 Africa Water Vision.
