The Alaska Aces find themselves in a familiar situation as it moved within a win of securing a finals berth. And even though they got within reach but ultimately fell short against Rain or Shine in the past conference, Alaska’s star player Calvin Abueva on Saturday issued a guarantee that the Aces will get the job done this time around. “Para sa kanila yung last conference, itong conference na ito, ginagarantiya ko kukunin na ng team namin yung series,” Abueva told a small group of sportswriters. The Aces will have two cracks at clinching a spot in the titles series opposite the San Miguel Beermen after taking a 3-2 series lead in their PBA Philippine Cup semifinal clash. Abueva’s coach Alex Compton, though, warned his team against complacency, saying he won’t feel comfortable until his team clinches the series. “I will only like my chances when we get four wins,” Compton said. In Game Five, the Aces came back from a 19- point deficit in the first half before pulling off a win.
