The Alzheimer’s Association estimates that there are more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease, including 100,000 here in Minnesota. There are 245,000 Alzheimer’s caregivers in Minnesota providing 280 million hours of unpaid care valued at nearly$3.5 billion. These numbers will skyrocket as the baby boomers continue to enter the age of greatest risk for Alzheimer’s disease. The Minnesota connection to the film Still Alice has received both local/national attention. ALZ MN/ND partnered Julianne Moore with Sandy Oltz from Sartell, MN, who consulted Julianne on what it is like living with Alzheimers disease. As the film is set to be released in Minnesota on Friday, advocates from every corner of our state will be gathering tomorrow, January 21, to rally the Minnesota legislature to support the Alzheimer’s Research and Resources Act. alz.org/mnnd
