The Angelina County Jail warden on Thursday stopped five inmates with “trusty” status from smuggling a pound of cocaine into the jail, according to the sheriff. “We brought the convict in and he told me, ‘I don’t know why you’re worried about this little stuff when all your trusties have got all the dope they want,’” the warden said. “We just decided when the trusties came in, we were going to test them, and a bunch of them refused.” (Story by JESSICA COOLEY/The Lufkin News; subscription or 99-cent day pass required)
