The BOP has been great for the growth of SUP racing since the first event 7 years ago. Here at SUPAA we are thankful for the amazing effort and commitment displayed by the entire team behind the race. However, there has been a lot of talk about the rules in our sport after last weekends event. Missed buoys, interference calls, false starts and other incidents are being discussed on the beach and online. Lets turn these conversations into action and continue to work with race officials, athletes and the entire SUP industry to come up with a unified set of rules that can be enforced. We believe that SUPAA is well on its way to establishing these rules and a system for enforcement around the world. SUPAA was formed to help create a fair, safe and fun means by which to compete in stand up paddling. Our mission applies to beginner paddlers all the way to the top finishers. Take a minute to read our rules and encourage your local race organizer to adopt them. If you would like to become an officially sanctioned SUPAA event you must have a certified SUPAA official on your race committee. In this year alone we have twenty six certified SUPAA race officials on four continents making a positive impact on SUP racing.
