The Beagle Freedom Project Bill AB 2431 passed in the California - TopicsExpress

The Beagle Freedom Project Bill AB 2431 passed in the California Assembly Committee on Higher Education. The bill is now set for a hearing with the Assembly Committee on Appropriations on May 7, 2014. The bill analysis can be read at leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billAnalysisClient.xhtml. At the end of the bill analysis is a list of those who oppose and support the bill. As always, you have the freedom to send your letter to each of the Appropriations Committee members on how you feel about the bill. If you do send a letter, keep it respectful and on topic. While we all agree that animals should not be used for lab testing, that is not what the bill is about. It is about the animals that have the unfortunate fate of being research animals and what their lives could be like once these research facilities are done with these dogs and cats. Opposition to using dogs, cats, and other furry friends as research subjects is a whole different issue. Congrats to our friends at the Beagle Freedom Project! Be sure to congratulate and thank them for being the voice for many research animals.
