The Beauty & Nail industry is one of the fastest growing - TopicsExpress

The Beauty & Nail industry is one of the fastest growing industries at present. Due to this, as in any industry, you will find people want to be a part of this to make fast money. Because of greed they are not prepared to pay for their training to ensure their own safety and that of the public. This in itself is breaking the law. By using potentially dangerous chemicals on members of the public without COSHH training hse.gov.uk/coshh/industry/beauty.htm they are putting both themselves and others at high risk of serious health complaints. Aside from chemical risk, there are the potential risk of blood borne viruses such as HIV, and Hepatitis B & C that can be passed between clients without the knowledge of correct sterilization methods, which is also part of training. hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg342.pdf habia.org/uploads/Health%20and%20safety%20mini%20site/Hygiene%20in%20Beauty%20Therapy_booklet.pdf Mechanical damage from incorrect use of tools & equipment can cause permanent nail deformities. Thinning out of the natural nail plate from the incorrect filing leaving clients prone to, at best, weak nails and at worst infection. THIS IS NOT A SCARE TACTIC! THESE ARE THE VERY REAL DANGERS FROM PAYING £8 OR £10 FOR YOUR NAILS DOING FROM AN UNQUALIFIED PERSON. Due to the ease of advertising from social networking sites I am seeing this happening too often and so I wanted to educate both the people carrying out these ‘services’ and also the people putting themselves at risk for the sake of a few pounds? as I know they are probably completely unaware. Is it really worth it??
