The Berks County Commissioners were given an update by Ryan - TopicsExpress

The Berks County Commissioners were given an update by Ryan Hunter, Facilities Manager in their meeting this morning on the two estimates now received from a joint effort between Fromm Electric/Lacey Electric and ESG. The estimates have come in at $85,000 and $77,000 for a new LED lighting system for the top of the courthouse. The former estimate (from the original contractor) was over $120,000! Already, costs have been reduced!! We are awaiting word about a large grant to see if the majority of the project will be taken care of by these awarded funds. Senator Judy Schwank sent a letter of support to the foundation! As soon as we know the results, we will update the page with the news. I want to thank Commissioners Leinbach, Barnhardt, and Scott for allowing this process to take place. We look forward to positive results and a new generation of lights above the skyline of the City of Reading! In the meantime, I want to ask for your support. This group has raised approximately $2,500 toward the effort through residents who believe in what we are doing. In addition, through the help of Rep. Tom Caltagirone and Rep. Mark Rozzi, we have solicited and attained the support of a local electrical union who has offered to contribute to the project by means of donated labor in order to serve the Berks Community!! We are very thankful for that commitment as labor would have been very expensive! We need YOUR help! Please consider donating online at berkshistory.org/relight-courthouse/. In addition, if you own a local business and would like to be a corporate sponsor, we would appreciate that too! Seeing local businesses get involved in this project sends the message that Berks believes in our region and our city! Thank you for taking the time to read this update!
