The Best of fasting after Ramadan is fasting Allaahs month of Muharram. Verily, the number of months with Allaah is twelve months (in a year) so was it ordained by Allaah on the day, when he created the Heaven and the Earth; of them four are Sacred - that is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein.. [Soorah at-Tawbah (9): 36] Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Salla-Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said : The year is twelve months of which four are sacred, the three consecutive months of Dhul-Qadah, Dhul-Hijjah, Muharram, and Rajab, which comes between Jumada and Shaban. (Reported by Imaam Bukhari) He (Salla-Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) also said : The best of fasting after Ramadan is fasting Allaahs month of Muharram.
