The Bet Chapter -6 17-08-2014 Third day started refreshingly but totally tired from hunger and thirst. Facebook page crossed 11 lakhs likes. All Keralites across the world were liking my page. When Niju came in I told him that I can’t hold on to fasting anymore and that I wanted to quit. Sebin said to hold on at this point and that I would be taken to hospital in worst situation and put on IV.Jomon said in his knowledge so far nobody had died due to hunger strike. Jomon is always the best person to speak about general things. He was high on his general knowledge. Years back I was very lucky to meet Dr Abdul Kalam. I was on the way to Delhi and in the flight I got the opportunity to take photo with him. The very next day morning I uploaded it on Orkut and called Jomon to checkout orkut to figure out with whom I had taken the picture. Jomon looked at the picture and asked “ Oh Eldhochayan’s father was with you? ( Eldho is my brother in law ). Now he is talking about the history of hunger strike. I stared at him and that’s the only one thing I can do at that time. As day goes by more supporters came in. Political leaders MLAs, friends, locals. MLA Biju Mon also visited us and announced his support and told that opposition leaders will visit the sites day after tomorrow. Day after tomorrow if it goes like this I will not live. Anyway it was nice to hear. But if this message came yesterday I would have enjoyed better. By around three pm I could see some white mist floating around and I was flying in between them. At 8 pm when I woke up and I saw that I am at Periyar Hospital, Chelimada. So what happened? Many channels and Newspaper reporters also were there. Many politicians, more friends and more supporters were all gathered around. I was put on IV, the doctors examined and declared that I was healthy and perfectly fine. I was expecting that the he will say that my health was bad. So now I have to continue with the hunger strike . Day four 18-08-2014 I wake up with smell of phenol and medicines. An IV is still attached to my hands. There was a nurse sitting on a chair but my vision was blurred. There were visitors also. By twelve the doctor stopped visitors inside my room. By around 4.30 I was blank again. I just don’t how to describe the feeling that I was experiencing at that time. I don’t know what was happening around. Lots of protesters gathered around the hospital irrespective of religion or political party. Day Five 19-08 -2014 8.30 morning I could hear some sounds but it is hard to open my eyelids and I could just see a blur. Only MLA Bijumon visited me again and assured that the state would go for another appeal in supreme court and will get a favaourable order from the court legally and requested me to stop the hunger strike. The Chief Minister of the state requesting me to stop the hunger strike??? It sounded like ice fall in desert. I was really happy. The MLA gave me some salted lime water for me to break the hunger strike, This was the traditional way of calling off the hunger strike but I am unable to wake up. I am really tired. It took me two days to restore my health to normal. Day Seven 21-08-2014 By around 3.30 we started from Kumily after thanking all the supporters, friends, relatives and politicians for their support. Their love was overwhelming. We reached Kuttikanam by 5 in the evening. It was tough for Sebin to drive the car due to heavy fog. We decided to stop at Kuttikanam to enjoy the mist and the nostalgic moments I spend years back there. The mist gave me some energy that I needed to regain health. I had forgotten to check the status of my Facebook page. Oh my god it has crossed 20 lakhs. Wow what a show?? Five days of hunger strike took me to a totally different level. Since I was so tired fell into sleep very early.
