The Between the Lakes Community Service Players Summer Musical - TopicsExpress

The Between the Lakes Community Service Players Summer Musical Production of The Music Man will march onto the stage at the South Seneca Middle-Senior High School Auditorium for three performances on July 19, 20, 21st. A unique feature of The BTLCS Players is that each year a non-for-profit organization is selected in partnership to promote their program/mission and benefit from the proceeds of the production. Their 2013 partners are the Waterloo Library and Historical Society and the Lodi Whittier Library. Since 2004 the BTLCS Players have worked with community partners to promote worthy missions and to raise over $20,000 for local area non-profit organizations. An affectionate valentine to small town America, Meredith Willson‘s THE MUSIC MAN follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall. The Music Man debuted on Broadway in 1957 and became an immediate hit, winning five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and running for 1,375 performances. The cast album won the first Grammy Award for “Best Original Cast Album” and was number one on the Billboard charts for 245 weeks. The show’s success led to a popular 1962 film adaptation and a Broadway revival in 2000, followed by a 2003 television remake. The Between The Lakes Community Service Players is thrilled to bring The Music Man to the stage. “The show is a delight for the entire family,” says Artistic Director Tina Coville-Bauder. “We are grateful to the Nelson B. Delavan Foundation for their continued support of our unique community theatre- service mission. We are proud to bring people together on and off the stage to build our musical theatre production and promote and support worthy community organizations in the process.” The production is under the direction of Tina Coville-Bauder, in collaboration with Music Director, Charity Gillotti; Technical Director, Mark Sinkiewicz; Orchestra Director Shade Zajac and Choreographer, Pam Bryan.
