> The Bharata Ratna is the highest civilian honour. It is generally conferred on Jan 26 th every year. The award was started by the president of India in 1954. The award can also be granted posthumously. The award was given to extraordinary performance of SOCIAL SERVICE, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, LITERATURE & ARTS. The award carries Bronze medal embossed National Emblem and motto Satyameva Jayate. 1st recipient---- C.Raja Gopalachari (1955) In 1955 award was announced to three important persons 1. C.Raja Gopalachari 2. S. Radha Krishnan 3. Sir C. V. Raman 1st woman recipient ----- Smt. Indira Gandhi (1971) 1st Foreign recipient ----- Khan Abdul Gafhar Khan Padma Vibhushan : 2nd hidhest civilian award Padma Bhushan : 3rd highest civilian award Padma Sri : 4th highest civilian award ~Padma awards are given in all disciplines/ fields of activities viz. art, social work, science & engineering, trade & industry, medicine, literature & education, sports, civil service etc… like and share must...!!
