The Bridgeport EOC is monitoring a storm system that has the potential for inundating our area with heavy rains on Friday and Saturday. An abundant of moisture from two low pressure systems might converge near or over the region Friday into Saturday, causing a widespread of heavy rainfall with the potential for freshwater flooding of urban areas, small streams, and rivers. Depending on “how” and “where” these low pressure systems merge (still a high uncertainty), minor tidal flooding is also possible around the times of high tides Friday evening across the entire region however; any tidal flooding should be minor. At this time we suggest that all home and businesses in any low-lying or flood zone areas prepare themselves for the potential of heavy rains and flooding in and around those areas. We ask that you start to prepare your home and business now before the storms approach and that you stay alerted to your local media and Emergency Officials for any updates to maintain situational awareness. To learn more about flood preparedness please visit our website at bridgeportct.gov and proceed to the emergency management department tab. In addition, please follow us for the latest weather updates on social media: Twitter: @MayorBillFinch; @CityofBPTCT; @BPTEOC or @NWSNewYorkNY. Facebook: Bill Finch; City of Bridgeport, CT; or Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center As always the City of Bridgeport EOC will continue to monitor the storm systems and keep everyone updated as to the storm tracks and expectations based on the forecasts. Stay Safe and begin preparing now! BPT EOC
