The Canadian Association of Gastroenterology published a Consensus Statements on the Risk, Prevention, and Treatment of Venous Thromboembolism in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. These guidelines expand on the guidelines for the management of venous thromboembolism from the American College of Chest Physicians which did not address patients with inflammatory bowel disease, whose risk for VTE is threefold higher than in the general population.
