The Carol Stream Village Board discussed the budget tonight during a special meeting. The Village is projecting a $2.3 million surplus for the 2013/2014 fiscal year ending in April. The reason for the surplus is because revenues are expected to finish the year at 8.1% better than projections. The good news extends to the proposed 2014/2015 fiscal year budget which begins May 1. Revenues are again expected to exceed expenditures.....with a projected $1.3 million surplus. And the 3 year financial plan shows the budget is sustainable without a property tax. Surplus money is put in the Capital Projects Fund and used for big infrastructure projects, etc. in the Village.
